It started as a teaser and now we have details concerning the new Savage Wolverine series by Frank Cho! The series will be written and drawn by Cho and recently Cho teased us with some details about what to expect to see when you pick up the new series in January.
Cho explains that his plot for the new series actually started out as an Indiana Jones/Cthulhu story that he had been working on but he decided to modify it into a Wolverine story that ultimately makes Shanna the Marion Ravenwood to Logan’s Indiana Jones in the series.
Cho explains more:
“The story is not just a quest to get home; it’s a story about surviving each other’s company and the Savage Land. I didn’t deviate too far from my original take of Shanna from nine years ago. Shanna is still abrasive, scrappy and confident. She knows how to take care of herself. Since Indiana Jones was my main inspiration for this story, I naturally envisioned Shanna as Marion Ravenwood to Wolverine’s Indiana Jones.”
The story will take place in The Savage Land where Logan accidentally awakens an ancient evil god while trying to get home. The series plans to bring us lots of action and even give us a little something that we’re not used to seeing from a Wolverine story: humor.
While Ka-Zar won’t be appearing in the series, expect to see lots of dinosaurs and giant apes, and Cho has plans to create some entirely new characters that may become important as the series progresses.
Be on the lookout for Savage Wolverine in January, 2013!
