Chris’s Reviews – Five Weapons #1 from Jimmie Robinson and Image Comics

Five Weapons #1 Review

Five Weapons #1 Review

I have just finished reading Five Weapons #1 by Jimmy Robinson from Image Comics and let me say that this was a surprising, very fun, and intriguing first issue.

We’re introduced in this first issue to a very special school for very special children – these special children are the children of renowned assassins throughout the world.

This school is specifically designed to not only give them a primary education but to also help them to specialize in doing what’s most important in life and that is, of course, killing people.

We’re introduced to the main character, the son of a very notorious assassin whose father’s name precedes him, and we’re introduced to the main characters of the series.

However, as fun as all that is, the main twist comes at the end of the issue whenever we see what’s going on back home in a flashback scene that shows us the main character’s family and who’s involved with the decision to send him to the special school.

From what we see in this first issue, every student in the school is choosing their main weapon to specialize in using, but it seems like our main character has already became very proficient at using the greatest weapon that he may possibly have…his mind.

The way he deduces the situation with staff and students and how they’ll react to situations is pretty interesting and a bit brilliant, to be honest.

Throughout the course of this first issue, we’re introduced to the various weapons clubs that are available at the school as well as being introduced to the headmasters for each of the weapons classes. We are also introduced to the principal as well as the nurse of the facility, both intriguing characters in their own right.

Jimmy Robinson is the creator, writer, artist, and letterer for this issue and I’m familiar with his work because of work that he’s done in the past with Bomb Queen from Image Comics, but I’ve never read those issues myself.

This new series seems to be a mix of the X-Men from Marvel Comics and Morning Glories from Image Comics, so I’m expecting action, adventure, mystery, and intrigue in these five issues that we’re going to be reading from this miniseries.

So far, it’s off to a great start and I can’t wait to see more from Jimmy Robinson and I can’t wait to see more from Five Weapons from Image Comics.
