As we’ve reported before about the big changes coming to the DC Comics Universe with the cancellation of six of their comic book series, those changes seem to pale in comparison to the changes that are coming to all of the Green Lantern titles.
As many of you know, the Green Lantern universe has become huge during the course of the past 9 to 10 years because of the fantastic writing of Geoff Johns who has been writing Green Lantern for that period of time as well as steering the course of the Green Lantern universe.
But all that changes with the twentieth issues of all of the Green Lantern titles because not only is Geoff Johns leaving his Green Lantern series, but so are the rest of the writers and even the artists of the other Green Lantern titles.
Geoff Johns and Doug Mahnke will be leaving Green Lantern with #20. We also know that Peter Tomasi and Fernando Pasarin will be leaving Green Lantern Corps with #20. Tony Bedard and Andres Guinaldo although will be leaving Green Lantern: New Guardians with #20. Peter Milligan and Will Conrad will also be leaving the Red Lanterns title with #20 as well.
But that doesn’t mean that any of these titles will be canceled even though their creative teams are leaving because what we are going to see is a complete overhaul (it looks like) of the Green Lantern titles.
Changes coming to Green Lantern will be that the series will be written by Robert Vendetti with art by Billy Tan.
The Green Lantern Corps will be written by Josh Fialkov with art by Bernard Chang.
Green Lantern: New Guardians will be written by Justin Jordan with art by Brad Walker.
The Red Lanterns title will be written by Josh Fialkov with art by Alessandro Vitti.
And it looks like there’s going to be a new Green Lantern title called Larfleeze that will be written by Keith Giffen with art by Scott Kolins.
At this time, we’re not sure if Larfleeze is going to be a brand-new title or if the existing Green Lantern spin off series Threshold will simply continue on and be renamed Larfleeze for the Green Lantern universe.
Regardless of these changes, it looks like a the current creative teams will stay on their respective titles until the end of the current Wrath of the First Lantern storyline that is going on in all of the Green Lantern titles at this time.
We even briefly talked about it in a video here just the other day so be sure and check out our video to see what we’re talking about and find out who the First Lantern is that is dominating the Green Lantern Universe!
