Finally, I’m going to talk about The Fearless Defenders #1.

I’ve been a fan of most of Cullen Bunn‘s work, beginning with The Sixth Gun – very awesome so you should definitely check it out. We get a little taste of his writing of Valkyrie in Fear Itself: The Fearless but here we get a whole lot more.

We get some great Misty Knight action – that’s really who he focuses on in this story, but he has Valkyrie join Misty Knight in kicking some zombie viking warrior butt. Lots of fun. From the word go, Bunn is just giving us lots of globetrotting and action, adventure and intrigue, so…everything.

The best word that I can think of that describes this book is it’s fun. It’s a fun read from beginning to end. If you’re a fan of Misty Knight and if you’re a fan of Valkyrie, you can wipe your brow and let out a sigh of relief, Bunn has done a very good job of preserving the integrity of their character.

Will Sliney, he’s previously done some art on Image Series Macgyver…I didn’t pick it up so this was my first exposure to his art. His style is very similar to that of Carlos Barberi and Paco Medina, both who have done some Ultimate Comics X-Men, if you want to check out some of their work. It’s a little cartoon-y, but it tells the action sequences very well. I enjoy it.

This book here was probably my favorite one. Favorite new book, that is, from this week. I’m definitely looking forward to the next issue.
