Captain America isn’t running this team. He put Havok in charge but he still seems to be pulling a lot of strings from behind the scenes. Havok isn’t really having that and Cap doesn’t seem too happy.

This series started off slow, but Remender is giving us as captivating a story here as he did on Uncanny X-Force. Yes, it’s that good.

Wonder Man and Wasp have been hired on to be part of the PR team for the Avengers. It seems that having mutants on the team wasn’t as popular a move as one might have thought. Havok and Rogue seem quite out of place. That’s okay though, Wolverine thinks adding Sunfire to the mix is sure to help.

The character that shines this issue is Havok. If he hadn’t done so already, he finally steps out from his brother’s shadow in this issue. His moments in the briefing room and later at the press conference are perfect. He wants people to know who he is and what he’s about. His rationalization for not liking the word ‘mutant’ makes perfect sense.

What is a book with Wonder Man without an appearance by Grim Reaper? Yup, he shows up.

That Rogue needs to learn how to pull her punches a little better.

One tiny complaint is that I’m not a fan of how Remender has almost made the character of Rogue regress after Mike Carey’s epic X-Men Legacy storyline in which she finally gained control of her powers and really came into her own. I think they could use the current Rogue without that regression.

If the first four issues didn’t hook you, give this issue a try. I think you might be surprised how good this issue was.
