Are you a fan of time travel stories? Are you a fan of the Air Force? Well, what do you get whenever you combine the two together into a comic book? What you get is “The Historians“, a new comic book series from IDW Publishing, written by Ron Marz and drawn by Jamal Igle. Ron Marz will not be writing this new series by himself. As a matter of fact, he will be joined by Eric Sellers, a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force reserves and a long time comic reader and fan.

Sellers and Marz have actually known each other for many years, having worked together on a previous magazine project and when Eric came up with the idea for this new comic book, Marz was one of the first people he called about it.

Who are The Historians and what is their program about? Well, actually, their job is to keep history the way it always has been, and, some cases, they’re also to find and obtain historical artifacts. The idea of the group is to maintain the integrity of time so that no one changes it and affects the present or the future.

The first series will actually address what happens when a member of the team decides he wants to use The Historians technology for his own benefit and travel through time making the rest of his team chase him down to right the wrongs he’s trying to commit.

Much of the story of The Historians comic book will be based around what artist Jamal Igle feels like drawing. As a matter of fact, Marz is specifically tailoring the stories to the times and eras that Jamal wants to draw because he knows that Jamal is a great artist and can draw just about anything that’s thrown at him.

On top of that, the comic is a great way for Sellers to be able to commemorate and honor former coworkers and veteran military personnel and Marz is even actually able to draw on some of the resources of the United States Air Force to make the comic series even more realistic.

“Because of Eric’s Air Force career, the Air Force has given us their stamp of approval, and is going to be cooperating in promotion and whatever needs we have,” Marz said. “In terms of if we need to go look at an Air Force base or talk to people to get background information, they’ve been very forthcoming with all that stuff, which I think is a really cool aspect of this whole thing.”

Be on the lookout for The Historians by IDW Publishing in March 2013.
