Thor: God of Thunder #5 Review by Randy Young Thor: God of Thunder is currently being hailed as one of the strongest restarts of the Marvel Now! movement. This issue is a great example of why. Aaron has been giving us three stories in one: Thor of the past, current, and future. The events of … [Read more…]
Avengers #6 Review by Randy Young Jonathan Hickman is still in setup mode with issue 6. He is still introducing us to the extensive, new Avengers roster. This huge roster is a negative and a positive. It is almost too big to handle and really give the characters the proper attention. However, Hickman takes certain … [Read more…]
Superior Spider-Man #4 Review by Randy Young Superior Spider-Man is hitting its stride for me. The past two issues have been quite good. I really like this idea Slott is exploring of having “Peter” be the best that he can be in all aspects of his life. It really does make you stop and think … [Read more…]
Justice League of America #1 Review by Randy Young To quote Fred Willard from A Mighty Wind, “Wha’ Happened?” This first issue was an obvious setup issue, a get to know who’s on the team. What Johns gives us is a train wreck. Here are a few of the things that irritated me. I am … [Read more…]
Saga #10 Review by Randy Young Another solid issue. Marko and his mother finally make their way back to the ship as the egg/planet begins to hatch. Gwendolyn and The Will catch up to the lovers. Craziness ensues. Close curtains. Vaughan’s story is deceptively simple. It is a fairly straightforward story that I’m pretty sure … [Read more…]
Fatale #12 by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips is another fantastic standalone issue. This issue focuses on a different fatale, Matilda. This was a fun read but was a totally different kind of story. We do get to see just how powerful these forces are that surround Josephine and Matilda. I’m sure the book will … [Read more…]
Fantastic Four #4 Review by Randy Young Matt Fraction has given us such great reads like Immortal Iron Fist, Hawkeye and Invincible Iron Man. These are three books I can highly recommend to everybody to check out, knowing you won’t be disappointed. This is not the case with his young run on Fantastic Four. I … [Read more…]
Secret Avengers #1 Review by Randy Young I was not exactly excited about this book when I read the setup and after reading this issue I still have my doubts. Nick Spencer is a big part of the problem. He does his best Brian Michael Bendis here and comes up way short. The witty banter … [Read more…]
Cable & The X-Force #4 Review and Avengers Arena #4 Review by Randy Young We get a double helping of Dennis Hopeless this week, so I thought I’d review both books together. These are two books that I enjoy but they didn’t start off that way. I was greatly looking forward to Cable & X-Force … [Read more…]
Uncanny X-Men #1 Review by Randy Young Bendis throws readers a huge swerve from the get go. He wants you to believe you are seeing something you’re not. He is highly successful in doing just that. I love and hate him for it. This story is a continuation of what he’s been doing in All-New … [Read more…]
