The Walking Dead #108 Review by Randy Young Meet Ezekiel. He has a tiger. This issue has lots going on. Michonne and Carl are fighting walkers, Jesus and Rick meeting Ezekiel and a special someone doing something shocking and out of character. It’s just your average issue of The Walking Dead. Here are a few … [Read more…]
Uncanny X-Men #3 Review by Randy Young Three issues into Uncanny X-Men and we are now fully entrenched in Bendis’s classic “stand around talking all issue” that he’s become so (in)famous for. The first half of it did not work for me at all while the second half did. Cyclops and his Extinction Team are … [Read more…]
Batman and Robin #18 Review by Randy Young Perfection. I could end this review with that one word. Tomasi’s Batman & Robin title has quietly been telling some of the best stories but has been lost in the shadows of Snyder’s Batman. This issue steps out of those shadows and shines. Tomasi needed no words … [Read more…]
Avengers #7 Review by Randy Young The White Event is upon us. The beginning of this issue is confusing. I was a little annoyed with Jonathan Hickman for his overly complex story that was offering no insight into what exactly was going on. Then I got to page 14. Justice. Cipher. Spitfire. Starbrand. These names … [Read more…]
Helheim #1 Review by Randy Young Think a combination of Frankenstein and Vikings. That is what you get with this book. Rikard, his father, and a small crew of Vikings are trying to protect their village from a witch and her Night Creatures. For some reason, they are attacking their village with a vengeance and … [Read more…]
Green Arrow #18 Review by Randy Young Oliver Queen wanted for murder! Only, we know he didn’t do it. How can he prove himself innocent? This issue is just as strong as Jeff Lemire’s premiere issue. Lemire has created a terrifying villain in Komodo. There is some sort of history there between Komodo and Queen’s … [Read more…]
Sex #1 Review by Randy Young Let’s talk about sex, baby. No, I’m not referring to the Salt ‘N’ Pepa song. I’m talking about the new series by Joe Casey. This book is about Simon Cooke, formerly the costumed crime fighter, The Armored Saint. Cooke is returning to Saturn City after disappearing some time ago. … [Read more…]
Age of Ultron #1 Review by Randy Young So the Age of Ultron is upon us. Is anybody else as lost as I am? Brian Michael Bendis dumps us right into the middle of a story without any explanation. Characters are acting way different than I’d expect them to, a city is totally decimated, and … [Read more…]
Uncanny X-Force #2 Review by Randy Young Two issues in and I’m still loving this relaunch. It’s a different kind of story than those Remender was telling. Humphries has put together a team consisting of Psylocke, Storm and Puck to find a little girl that is being held captive/protected by Spiral. Meanwhile, the good Fantomex … [Read more…]
The Legend of Luther Strode #3 Review by Randy Young This issue is the halfway point for the second story about Luther Strode. Luther has embraced his ultra-violent ways in his crusade against the mob. This has upset the mod and in return they have hired the mysterious killer to take Strode down. The thing … [Read more…]
